My subjects are fascinating to me, and the way I deliver them, soon have the audience hooked wanting to know more.

I use visual aids and techniques, I include jokes, and questions, and I provide shade and light through passion and emotion – always ending on a high.

I’m also adaptable – I have my talks ready to go, but can tailor them to your length and audience, just let me know what you need.

Tracks to My Grandfather’s Success

Johnny Douglas, the highly acclaimed composer, arranger, and conductor I’m proud to say is my grandfather. In this talk about his life and success I share his journey and music. 

He worked with many celebrities, had his own record label Dulcima Records, and most famously wrote the music to the 1971 film The Railway Children. But his achievements didn’t end there. He also wrote music for 41 other films and the Marvel Animation TV series, wall to wall music for Spiderman and his Amazing friends, Dungeons and Dragons, Transformers and more. His legacy lives on through his beautiful music.

The Bees & the Amazing Products From the Hive

We all know not to kill the bees, but do we know why? Following first hand experience I share how the hive works, the substances from the hive and how they help bees and humans, the importance of the bees for our eco-system, concern over the decline of the bees, and how we can all help them.

Capturing the Curvature of the Earth on Concorde

I’ve always loved looking at Concorde in the sky and then had the privilege of flying on her, travelling faster than a rifle bullet at Mach 2. I am now a proud volunteer steward on the Concorde at Brooklands in Weybridge, Surrey giving tours one or two days a month. In my talk I have lots of facts, memorabilia, and photos of my trip and of all the BA Concordes in their final resting place having visited them all. This is your chance to hear about the experience of flying onboard Concorde, and more. What about that awful fatal accident in Paris?  Why doesn’t Concorde fly anymore? If you’d like to know, my talk will definitely interest you.

The Power of Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera also known as the wand of heaven is an amazing natural ingredient which is known to help with skin conditions, digestion, joint pain, immune system, general well being and energy. Packed with vitamins and nutrients and delivered to the consumer in a variety of different products to help them with so many health challenges and conditions.

From Concept to Customer

My journey of having an idea for a fashion accessory product, creating it finding a manufacturer, producing the marketing and PR, and bringing it to market. 2020 was the 10 year anniversary of my little product ‘Strupz – the jean stirrup’ being available to purchase.

The Wonders of Winter

The season of winter brings much joy around the festivities and celebrations of Christmas and other holidays whilst nature goes to sleep, animals hibernate and the trees conserve energy. Have you ever wondered how crackers originated or how the Robin became a symbol of Christmas or why Boxing Day is named as such? (Clue: it has nothing to do with the sport of Boxing!). Are you interested in what the weather, moons, and nature are doing during the coldest months of the year December to February? The Hope of Spring

The season of Spring brings hope and happiness that warmer days are coming, flowers start blooming, nature and animals start waking up, and the days are getting longer. Have you ever wondered how April Fool’s Day started or how eggs became a symbol of Easter? The Warmth of Summer

The season of summer brings us much warmer days, sunshine, holidays at home or abroad early sun rises and late sunsets.  Picnics and barbeques, strawberries and cream, ice cream and popsicles, Pimms and Prosecco. The season for Wimbledon Tennis and other sporting highlights. I share all this in my very visual, fun, and informative talk which presents well with projector and screen.

The Beauty of Autumn

The season of Autumn brings beautiful colours of red, oranges, yellows and greens as nature prepares itself for winter. The nights draw in. We have the fun of Halloween and fireworks night and the excitement as the build up to Christmas begins. In this talk I share how wine originated, a potted history, how the bubbles are formed, where sparkling wine fountains originate, why the different glass shapes and the tasting techniques?   It comes with tasting if you would like to taste two different sparkling wine options.

Help Our Hedgehogs

Our poor hedgehogs are in decline.  In this talk I share lots of information about these little mammals and their habitat, reasons for their decline and how we can all help them.

The Railway Children

The popular 1970 family film The Railway Children is one of the movies that my grandfather Johnny Douglas wrote the music and was nominated for a BAFTA.  With so much music and stories to share this is a stand alone talk on the film, some behind the scenes stories, how the story became a film, how my grandfather came to compose the film score, an understanding of the music and how the themes capture the characters and scenes, and how the legacy of the story and film lives on.  The talk has many music excerpts.

Strict Tempo Music & Dancing

New Talk

My grandfather composed and arranged music for ballroom and latin dancing.  As the title says there is a strict tempo to each of the different style of dance.  In this talk I share a brief history and description of some dance styles as well as the strict music timing and many excerpts to listen too.

Christmas Music and Facts

New Talk

Using arrangements of popular Christmas music by my grandfather Johnny Douglas I share some facts about the song and provide the lyrics on the screen for audiences to sing along to the excerpts if they wish to feel the festive spirit.
